The man, the myth, the fudge legend - Mr. Victor Callewaert, Island House Hotel owner and his lovely daughter Ann.
Just got back from the island celebrating 8 years of marriage! We had a great time — full of non-stop wandering 🤍 I can’t wait to share all our adventures!! Starting with this one…. We, of course, always make a point of biking around the island (8.2 miles)… but this year we made a mistake 😂 it was drizzling and cold… about 62 degrees… and so, so windy… but we thought we’d be just fine biking! LOL So we grabbed a cup of coffee from our FAV (luckybean.mi) and headed off on our adventure! 🚲 About halfway around the island we were NOT okay 😂 and we were too far along to go back, so we kept pressing forward. Safe to say…. We had some STUNNING, unreal views of the beautifully foggy island…. DO TELL! Do you have a strong opinion when it comes to food and drinks made in Michigan ? If so, play along on this little game of This or That? I'll go first! Mackinac Island Fudge, paczki, and Detroit Style Pizza are no-brainers for me. I love them all and would hands down pick each one if forced to choose. The drink decision is a hard one for me though, as I don't really like either of the choices. Sorry. 😩 Growing up, Vernors was the only pop my Grandma had at her house, and she always insisted on pouring me a glass when we visited. However, I was not a fan of ginger ale and it would take me quite long to drink it, which did not get any better the longer it sat and the warmer it got. 😉 We always had Faygo in our house growing up, but flavors such as red pop, grape or rock & rye did nothing for me. Today, if a Faygo diet-cola was in the mix, that would be my choice. Shoutout to puremichigan from whom we "borrowed" this idea who played their game bracket-style in honor of March Madness. DO TELL!
