Step back in time on Grand Hotel’s iconic Front Porch ✨ Originally, the Front Porch was roughly 426 ft long; today, it stretches 660 ft and holds the title of the World’s Longest Front Porch. Though some might not recognize the long railing that once lined the Front Porch, it was replaced in the 1930’s by the red geraniums we know and love today. Many miles of trails are now open, including Arch Rock, Sugar Loaf, Rifle Range, Scott’s Cave, and Crooked Tree Roads, in addition to M-185, the road around the island. While there’s still work to be done, the progress made is a testament to the unwavering commitment to safety for all residents, workers, and guests. For guests planning to visit this year, you can look forward to business as usual in time for the first seasonal ferries running their hourly schedule on April 25. Cleanup efforts may still be ongoing, but hotels, restaurants, and attractions will be open on their scheduled open dates. Lastly, BIG thank you to all parties for their mass collaboration and efforts. During these times you remember it takes a village and the Mackinac Island village extends beyond the 8.2 miles.
