Just got back from the island celebrating 8 years of marriage! We had a great time — full of non-stop wandering 🤍 I can’t wait to share all our adventures!! Starting with this one…. We, of course, always make a point of biking around the island (8.2 miles)… but this year we made a mistake 😂 it was drizzling and cold… about 62 degrees… and so, so windy… but we thought we’d be just fine biking! LOL So we grabbed a cup of coffee from our FAV (luckybean.mi) and headed off on our adventure! 🚲 About halfway around the island we were NOT okay 😂 and we were too far along to go back, so we kept pressing forward. Safe to say…. We had some STUNNING, unreal views of the beautifully foggy island…. Day 8 saw the OG3 roadtrippers head out of Deckerville and start trekking north. We stopped in Bay City to have lunch with the wonderful drsallyblossom where we got to catch up and give hugs after what has been a long year for her and the family. She also introduced us to the amazing artwork in the area...which does bear a striking resemblance to a giant toilet seat. Credit to Wyatt for the pics of me and Sal and the boss babe walk action shot! We left the thumb and continued on 75 with all the other folks looking to go Up North on a Friday afternoon, crossing the 45th parallel and stopping in Gaylord so I could get at least one trip to Meijer meijerstores in this visit. We didn't leave the LP early enough to hit the zoo or Mystery Spot after crossing the Mighty Mac, but we did stop in St. Ignace for obligatory bridge shots (I took the one of them looking at the bridge in case they ever need an album cover, then made them turn around to see those sweet faces) and touching the waters of Lake Michigan. It was also time to introduce the boys to the delicious joy that is #mackinacislandfudge and we stopped in town to walk around a bit and pick some flavors. Continuing north and west we landed in the tiny town of Hulbert for the first of two nights at the historic Tahquamenon Bed & Breakfast, where we had a nice room, place to eat and play in the lounge area, and a location perfect for the weekend. ...
