For 130 years, Grand Hotel, America’s Summer Place located on Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan, has been an exceptional and memorable wedding destination for many couples. As a family owned historic hotel we pride ourselves on the details and making sure your wedding is something you will never forget. We would be honored to be part of your special day.
Ceremony & Receptions
We are prepared to host celebrations for up to 400 guests with a variety of ceremony and reception locations and dining options available. Whether an event is big or small we have a variety of unique locations available.
Ceremony
Wedding ceremonies are traditionally held in two beautiful outdoor locations. The famous Grand Hotel Front Porch, the longest in the world, is lined with red geraniums, the hotel’s signature flower. From this one-of-a-kind vantage point, you and your guests have a view of the Straits of Mackinac, Mackinac Bridge and the Grand Hotel gardens below. A second location, the Grand Hotel Tea Garden, sits amidst the meticulously manicured flower gardens with panoramic views looking up at the hotel. An immense stone fountain is the Tea Garden’s centerpiece with a beautiful hand crafted wall lining the garden with flowers all around. Please know that both of these locations are weather permitting and indoor locations are also provided when needed.
Cocktail Reception and Luncheon/Dinner Events
Five formal, private dining rooms are available for your reception, three of which feature dance floors. Each room is different and provides unique decoration and amenities. Grand Hotel offers a variety of cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvre options for your reception. Further information can be found in the Grand Hotel Wedding Guide. Luncheons and dinners are multiple-course, plated meals with customizable options. Grand Hotel also offers casual or off-site dining options — The Pool Lawn, The Gate House, Woods Restaurant and The Jockey Club at The Grand Stand — all perfect for your rehearsal dinner or smaller wedding party. In addition Grand Hotel’s skilled pastry chef is flexible and creative and can help design a beautiful wedding cake or desserts for your special day. Or you may consider the traditional Grand Pecan Ball with Mackinac Island Fudge Sauce, another tradition of Grand Hotel.
Flowers by Margaret’s Garden
Grand Hotel has been providing wedding flowers to guests for over fifty years. Margaret’s Garden offers an extensive selection of flowers and experienced staff to provide personalized quality service. Not getting married at Grand Hotel but still want Grand flowers? – please contact Margaret’s Garden directly at mgarden@grandhotel.com.
Transportation
Have you always dreamed of the fairy tale wedding? Transportation in a horse-drawn carriage makes every dream come true. Located on Mackinac Island where cars are not allowed, getting around via horse-drawn carriage makes for an enchanting experience. Reserve the Grand Hotel Omnibus or Victoria Carriage as your wedding day transportation.
Music
Music ranging from classical to jazz, pop, swing and big band is available from the Grand Hotel Music Department to enhance all of your wedding needs.
Other Amenities & Activities
The wedding couple and your wedding party can pamper and prepare at Astor’s Salon and Spa, our full-service Aveda Salon. There are countless activities to keep your guests engaged, from 18 holes of golf on The Jewel and 9 holes of FootGolf to stepping back in time at historic Fort Mackinac or a horse-drawn carriage tour, and lets not forget about the over 70+ miles of paved and unpaved trails to explore on bikes or by foot. These are just a few of the island’s many attractions.

Marty Davis, our specially trained Wedding Coordinator will handle every detail of your special day. Marty has been coordinating weddings at Grand Hotel for over 15 years and will give you the personalized service you need before and during your event.

Dress Guide
Since every evening at Grand Hotel is a special occasion after 6:30pm dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies are preferred, while gentlemen are required to wear a suit coat, necktie and dress pants, no denim or shorts. This applies for all areas inside the hotel with the exception of the Cupola Bar. Children 12 years and older are expected to be in dress similar to the adults. Click here for more information.

Nick & Allie’s wedding day at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island felt like a dream come true from beginning to end. We love Mackinac Island so naturally I was beyond ecstatic to have the opportunity to document a wedding there. Where the waves meet the shoreline and time slows down, hand in hand they promised forever to eachother in front of all their closest friends and family. Mackinac Island has a timeless charm like no where else that helped to create the most perfect backdrop for their fairytale love story. This weekend was perfect in every way and absolutely unforgettable.
