In honor of St. Patrick’s Day we would like to share the story of Stonecliffe’s Founder Michael Cudahy who emigrated to The United States from Ireland in 1849. After working his way up the ladder in the Milwaukee meat packing industry from the age of 14, Cudahy was made a partner at Armour & Co. Michael Cudahy soon established the Cudahy Packing Company in South Omaha, Nebraska. After expanding his fortune further into real estate Cudahy set his sights on Mackinac Island and became one of the largest landowners with his purchase of 150 acres. In 1904 construction was completed on his mansion which he named Stonecliffe. Cudahy and his wife Catharine had seven children, four boys and three girls. In 1970 Stonecliffe was converted into a First Class Resort Hotel which you know now as The Inn at Stonecliffe. 🍀 https://theinnatstonecliffe.com

Good Morning from Anne's Tablet - “Her love of this island and its beauty in the words of her heroine, Anne.” Anne's Tablet is a memorial to the author, Constance Fenimore Woolson who wrote the 19th-century novel, “Anne." The novel depicts the conflicts faced by its heroine as she leaves her home village, Mackinac Island, to seek a future as a young woman in the Northeastern United States. You can find Anne's Tablet on the East Bluff just past Fort Mackinac overlooking the harbor.

We are so excited to share the news that Mackinac Island Resident Alan Sehoyan will be joining our team here at The Inn at Stonecliffe as General Manager. “I am passionate about hospitality, carrying on a family tradition spanning three generations. I take great pride in providing an elevated and personal guest experience.” - Alan Sehoyan The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation couldn't ask for a more qualified candidate to fulfill the role of General Manager. Alan joins us with nearly two decades of hospitality experience including working as General Manager for Bay Harbor Resort & Marina in Petoskey and more recently Island House Hotel on Mackinac Island. While at Island House Alan successfully led a $4Million renovation and rebranding campaign for the hotel. A Mackinac Island Resident, Alan has lived on the island for almost 20 years with his wife Alison and their two children Leon and Ava. Alan understands what a positive impact foundations such as the Pulte Family can have on the local community and school system with their continual commitment to the betterment of the island. Sehoyan comes from a family of hospitality spanning three generations. A Grosse Pointe Shores native, Alan's father owned the legendary Leon's Salon in Grosse Pointe Farms. Alan's rich history of philanthropy in the Peace Corps, hospitality experience, and community involvement being a Mackinac Island City Council and Historic Commision Member makes him the perfect candidate to work for The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation. The Pulte Family is looking forward to all we will accomplish in the years to come with Alan Sehoyan as General Manager as we continue to renovate and improve the Inn at Stonecliffe for our much anticipated reopening in 2024.
